What is "Ascentia"?

The name Ascentia (pronounced "Ah-sent-shee-ah") comes from "ascent" — as in rising higher, achieving goals, and striving for success. It reflects our belief that with the right preparation, every child can rise with confidence toward their ambitions.

Our emblem is a phoenix rising from an open book reaching for a star. The phoenix in our emblem represents resilience, brilliance and the courage to soar ever higher. Paired with the open book of knowledge and the guiding star of aspiration, it symbolises transformation through learning and the pursuit of excellence.

About Ascentia Tutoring

Image-23_edited.jpg

Hi, I'm Chi, founder of Ascentia Tutoring, created with one goal: to help children succeed in the 11+.

Based in Orpington, I provide expert preparation for grammar and independent school entrance exams through both online or in-person classes.  I work with families mainly aiming for schools such as St. Olave’s, Newstead Wood and grammar schools in Kent, Bexley, Medway and Sutton, as well as leading independent schools.  I've also supported families preparing for selective schools further afield, such as Queen Elizabeth (QE), Henrietta Barnett (HBS), and Essex (CSSE schools) via online tuition.

I know what it takes to succeed: my two eldest children gained places at St. Olave's Grammar School and I have helped students secure places at Newstead Wood and other grammar schools.

I help children master all aspects of the 11+, including maths, English, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning, building the skills, confidence, and exam techniques they need to perform at their best.

My approach is results-driven and tailored to each child: developing problem-solving skills, logical thinking and exam resilience — not just for the 11+, but as a foundation for future academic success.

I hold an Enhanced DBS check, giving parents complete peace of mind.
